Endangered Otter Spotted at Tangeum Lake Chungju, a city in North Chungcheong Province, announced on Jan. 15 that an otter was recently spotted near the city¡¯s Tangeum Lake. Otters are known to inhabit clean waters and healthy ecosystems. South Korea protects them as Natural Monument No. 330 and a first-class endangered species. Chungju plans to develop more policies to maintain the lake¡¯s water quality and preserve its ecosystem.
