The Koala
The koala is very cute. It has soft gray hair. The koala looks like a bear. But it is a marsupial. It is a special kind of mammal. It carries its baby in a pouch.
The baby koala is very small when it is born. It lives in its mother¡¯s pouch for 5 to 7 months. When it grows up, it weighs about 15 kilograms. It is 60 centimeters tall.
Koalas live in trees. They like to eat leaves. Koalas sleep for up to 16 hours a day! They are active at night.
Koalas live in Australia. They can live about 17 years. Sadly, there are fewer than 100,000 koalas today. We need to protect the lovely animals!
