At 20, Nika Prevc Is Redefining Women’s Ski Jumping   

• Nika Prevc, a ski jumper from Kranj, Slovenia, has moved from “promising” to nearly unbeatable at just 20 years old. Many took notice in March 2025 in Vikersund, Norway. A day after securing her second consecutive World Cup title in Oslo, Prevc soared 236 meters in training, the longest jump ever recorded in women’s ski jumping. She landed, paused briefly, then skied away as if it were routine. Prevc has long been regarded as one of Slovenia’s most exciting talents. She made her FIS Ski Jumping World Cup debut at age 16 in November 2021, earning her first points with a 23rd-place finish in Nizhny Tagil. The following year, she dominated the junior ranks, winning multiple gold medals, including individual titles and team honors at the European Youth Olympic Winter Festival and the Nordic Junior World Championships. Her rise continued in February 2023, when she reached the World Cup podium for the first time with a third-place finish in Hinzenbach. More recently, in late December 2025, Prevc won the Women’s Two Nights Tour in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany, with jumps of 136.5 and 134.5 meters. It marked her second straight victory and fifth win of the current World Cup season. Many now look forward to seeing what Prevc will deliver at the Milano Cortina Olympics.
