Narges Mohammadi: A Brave Voice for Peace in Iran   

• Narges Mohammadi is an Iranian human rights activist and a Nobel laureate, recognized for her tireless efforts to protect women’s rights and promote freedom in Iran. Currently imprisoned in Tehran’s notorious Evin Prison, Mohammadi has become a global symbol of courage and resistance. Mohammadi chose to fight for justice from university, writing articles supporting women’s rights in the student newspaper and joining a student political group. After university, she joined the Defenders of Human Rights Center, a group that defends the rights of women, political prisoners, and minorities in Iran. Over the years, she has been arrested many times for protesting unfair laws, like the death penalty and Iran’s strict hijab rules for women. Even after facing solitary confinement and terrible conditions in prison, she refuses to stay silent. In 2023, Mohammadi received the Nobel Peace Prize “for her fight against the oppression of women in Iran.” Leaders around the globe have praised her bravery.
