New AI Partner Helps Save Lives in Regional Emergency Rooms   

• A new artificial intelligence tool is helping doctors in South Korea save lives during life-threatening brain emergencies. The software, called “AVIEW NeuroCAD,” is improving care in regional hospitals such as Pohang Semyeong Christian Hospital. In the past, doctors often had to wait for a specialist to review CT scans. Now, the AI checks the scans right away. It can quickly find signs of blocked blood vessels or bleeding in the brain. The results are then sent directly to doctors’ smartphones, allowing medical teams to act faster and prepare for surgery sooner. The system has already helped several patients. In one case, a 66-year-old patient from Ulleungdo was first thought to have food poisoning. However, the AI quickly identified a cerebral infarction, also known as a stroke. In another case, a 61-year-old patient received life-saving surgery within 90 minutes of arriving at the hospital. As of April 2026, the software has been used more than 50,000 times across the country. This AI is helping close the healthcare gap between big cities and small towns.
