Help your student learn grammar patterns related to today’s article by letting him or her repeat after you four times. * 수동태 (능동태는 주어가 어떤 행동을 스스로 하는 것을 나타낸다. “~가 / ~이 ~을 하다”로 해석한다. 수동태는 주어가 어떤 행동의 대상이 되어 그 행동을 당하는 경우를 나타낸다. “~가 / ~이 ~를 받다 (당하다)”로 해석한다.) 수동태의 기본 형태는 “주어 + be동사 + 과거 분사 + by” 이다. (능동태) ①My mother ②broke ③a glass. (엄마가 유리를 깼다.) (수동태) ③A glass ②was broken ①by my mother. (유리가 엄마에 의해 깨졌다.) 1) 능동태 문장에서 ①의 주어가 수동태에서는 전치사 by뒤에 자리하게 된다. 수동태 문장에서 해석은 ~에 의해서라는 의미가 된다. 2) 능동태 문장의 ②의 broke는 과거형이므로, 수동태에서는 3인칭 단수의 be동사인 was와 broke의 과거분사인 broken으로 바뀐다. 3) ③ 능동태에서 대상이 되었던 a glass가 수동태에서는 문장의 주어로 쓰이게 된다.   * 예문 Tom drew a picture. (톰은 그림을 그렸다.) A picture was drown by Tom (그림은 톰에 의해 그려졌다) He made many cars. (그는 많은 자동차를 만들었다.) Many cars were made by him. (많은 자동차가 그에 의해서 만들어졌다.) She read a book. (그녀는 책을 읽었다.)
