You Young0You Young was born in South Korea in 2004, but her family moved to Indonesia when she was 2 years old. She spent most of her childhood in Singapore. She was inspired to start skating while watching Kim Yuna, the Korean figure skater, win a gold medal at the 2010 Winter Olympics. You Young quickly became one of the best youth skaters in the world, and she became the youngest skater to ever win the South Korean Figure Skating Championships in 2016. She competed in the Championships again in 2017 but suffered a fall and finished in fifth place. The following year, she redeemed herself, winning her second national championship, and is now the three-time defending champion. You Young recently won the gold medal in ladies singles at the 2020 Winter Youth Olympics, during which she became the only female skater to ever land a triple axel at the Youth Olympics. In fact, she is only the 11th female skater to ever land a triple axel in any international competition.
