WHO Declares a Global Health Emergency0The World Health Organization (WHO) declared a global health emergency on Jan. 30, as the coronavirus that originated in Wuhan, the capital city of Hubei province in central China, spread beyond China. The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in mainland China has reached 10,000, with 213 deaths, as the virus spread to every Chinese region, including 31 provinces, municipalities, and autonomous regions. The number of confirmed cases reported from different regions around the world is also slowly increasing, and many countries have sent their passenger planes to Wuhan to repatriate their citizens. The declaration, which is officially called a Public Health Emergency of International Concern, notifies all member states of the United Nations that the world¡¯s top health advisory organization considers the situation as serious. This marks the sixth WHO declaration of a global health emergency. The virus has also spread anti-Chinese sentiment, the union of American Airlines pilots is suing to stop some flights to China, and world-renowned orchestras like the Boston Symphony are canceling their concerts that were scheduled to be held in China
