Bong Joon-ho0Bong Joon-ho was born in Daegu in 1969. Although he decided to become a filmmaker when he was in his early teens, his parents disapproved of his decision, so he majored in sociology at Yonsei University instead. However, while he was a student there, Bong Joon-ho joined the film club, and after graduation, he followed his dreams by completing a two-year program at the Korean Academy of Film Arts. He released his first film in 2000, but he didn¡¯t become famous until his next movie, Memories of Murder, in 2003. Three years later, in 2006, he achieved international commercial success with his monster movie, The Host, which was his most successful film until last year, when he released his latest film, Parasite. So far, Parasite has won a number of awards and will likely continue to do so over the next few months. It has also earned more than $100 million (W115.9 billion) worldwide and made Bong Joon-ho internationally recognized as one of the finest film directors in the world
