An art piece by famed painter Park Soo-geun became the most expensive painting ever sold in Korea. The beautiful oil-painting called ＂Washing Place＂was sold for a whopping 4.5 billion won (about 4.84 million dollars) on May 22. ＂Washing Place＂is an oil painting presumed to have been painted in the 1950s. It shows six women washing clothes at a stream, each wearing a colored shirt in pink, yellow and green. It was known to be a gift by the artist to an American collector, who supplied Park with paints and canvases. As with many artists, Park suffered greatly while he was alive.
